Privacy policy
Last updated 5 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information COOKUMBER (“we”, “us”) collects when you use cookumber.in, why we collect it and how we protect it. By using our service you agree to this policy.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, mobile number, email address and, if you sign in with Google, your Google account name and email.
- Delivery details: the addresses you save, including the map location you pin, and the receiver's name and phone number.
- Orders: what you order, when, the amount, and the delivery status.
- Payments: payments are processed by Razorpay. We receive a payment reference and status; we never see or store your card, UPI PIN or bank login.
- Device information: basic technical data such as browser type, and preferences stored on your device (for example your cart and saved recipes).
Anonymous visit statistics
To understand how the site is used, we count visits without identifying anyone. This applies whether or not you are signed in.
- What we record: the pages and dishes viewed, steps such as adding to the cart or opening checkout, the site or link you came from, and whether you are on a phone or a computer.
- How: each visit gets a random id that lasts for one browser session and is forgotten when you close the tab. We use no cookies for this, we do not store your IP address, and the id is never linked to your account, name or phone number.
- How long: these records are kept for 90 days and then deleted.
- Traffic counts: we also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits and page views without cookies and without identifying individual visitors.
“Notify me” requests
If we don't deliver to your area yet, or the kitchen near you is closed, you can ask us to tell you when we deliver to your area or are open again. For this we keep the WhatsApp number you give us and, if you add them, your name, area and pincode.
- Sending the form is your agreement to receive that one WhatsApp message from us.
- We contact you only on WhatsApp. We do not send SMS and we do not call you.
- Your number is used for nothing else: no offers, no other messages, and it is not shared for marketing.
- To be removed before then, email support@cookumber.in and we will delete your request.
How we use it
- To create your account, take and deliver your orders, and show your cooking guides.
- To check that your address is inside our delivery area.
- To contact you about your order, and to answer your support requests.
- To prevent fraud and keep the service secure.
- To improve our recipes and service, using order information in aggregate.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers needed to run COOKUMBER, and only what each needs:
- Our delivery staff: your name, phone number and delivery address, for your order.
- Razorpay (payments), Supabase (secure account and order storage), Cloudflare (website hosting and anonymous traffic counts), Google (sign-in, if you choose it) and OpenStreetMap/CARTO (maps).
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and order history while your account is active. Order and payment records are kept as long as Indian tax and accounting laws require. You can ask us to delete your account at any time; we will delete or anonymise your data except records we must keep by law. Anonymous visit statistics are kept for 90 days. “Notify me” requests are kept until we have sent you that message, or until you ask us to remove them.
Your choices and rights
- See and update your profile and addresses in the app.
- Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account by writing to support@cookumber.in.
- Have your “Notify me” request or any other details removed: email support@cookumber.in from, or mentioning, the phone number you gave us and we will delete them.
- Turn order notifications on or off in the app, or in your browser settings.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored with access controls, so each customer can only access their own account, addresses and orders. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects you.
Children
COOKUMBER is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version; significant changes will be shown in the app.
